  • The Eyebrow Trends We’re Happy To See Go

Brows have turned from pencil thin to big and bold over the past few years. Thanks to eyebrow trends setters Cara Delevinge, the big-brows-but-tamed Lily Collins and classic Audrey Hepburn, eyebrows are back bigger and bushier than ever. Although a few eyebrow trends have not always been for the best, we’re going to tell you which eyebrow trends we’re happy to see go.

    1. Multi-coloured eyebrows. Now we’re all for the classic light blonde, dark brown and black eyebrow dyes (see our 30 Day Brow Tint!) but 2015 saw a few brighter and statement eyebrows. There were blues, pinks, grey and even rainbows (for those who can’t decide on the colour spectrum). Let’s leave the coloured eyebrows to the 30 Day Brow Tint in Dark Brown and Black.

    2. Glitter eyebrows. If you thought coloured eyebrows were out there, glitter eyebrows ensure you’re making a statement. There’s youtube tutorials on how to achieve your shimmering brows and even products dedicated to creating your own unique glitter statement. Frankly, it’s just a little OTT for us.

    3. Thin eyebrows. If you ask any woman what beauty tip she would give to her younger self, it would be to put down the tweezers and stop plucking. Now there’s growth serums and to the extreme, eyebrow transplants to beat this trend. Thin eyebrows, you’re on thin ice right now.

    4. No eyebrows. We’ve seen it on fashion week catwalks and across fashion houses advertising, but we’d take thin, glitter and multi-coloured eyebrows over no eyebrows any day!

For the au-naturel eyebrows that last for up to 30 days, and don’t require a trip down to the salon, try the new 30 Day Brow Tint in Dark Brown and Black.

  • How To Use The Colorsport 30 Day Brow Tint

Colorsport 30 Day Brow Tint How To Blog Post

Colorsport is pleased to announce the 30 Day Brow Tint, in the original Colorsport formula, is now available to purchase on in both Black and Dark Brown for £8.25. Following EU regulations to ban the use of hydrogen peroxide in lash tinting products, unless are “for professional use only“, we have re-introduced the old formula for eyebrows only.

To tint your eyebrows in just 1-2 minutes and last for up to 30 days, please follow the below instructions:

Always carry out a skin sensitivity test 48 hours and follow the leaflet carefully before each application.

Step 1: Cleanse your eyebrows thoroughly with a non-oily cleanser, to remove any makeup and natural oils. Contact lens wearers should remove their lenses.

Step 2: Prepare one eyebrow at a time by using a cotton bud to coat the skin up to the eyebrows with petroleum jelly or a similar thick cream. Do not get this onto the eyebrows or they will need to be cleansed again to remove the jelly or cream.

Step 3: Pierce the nozzle of Dye Cream 1 with the opposite side of the cap. Squeeze about 1cm of Dye Cream 1 into the mixing bowl. Add 10 small drops of Developer Lotion 2 then mix them together using the wand or brush. Continue to stir until the mixture becomes a creamy consistency and does not drip.

Step 4: Close the first eye and apply the mixture to the eyebrows using the wand or brush. Avoid direct contact with the skin or eyes.

Step 5: Leave on for 1-2 minutes, keeping your eye closed throughout.

Step 6: With your eyelid still closed, rinse your eyebrow with a dampened cotton pad, making sure to avoid contact with the eye.

Step 7: Repeat the process on the other eye.

Step 8: Discard any unused mixture and thoroughly clean the mixing bowl and wand or brush ready for the next application.

For further information, please follow the PDF instructions

If you require a more defined eyebrow, leave the tint on for a maximum of 5 minutes and re-apply if depth of colour is required.

  • NEW: Colorsport 30 Day Brow Tint

    Colorsport 30 Day Brow Tint

Colorsport is proud to bring back its “original” Colorsport formula just for eyebrows, now the 30 Day Brow Tint.

Due to EU regulations, Colorsport had to change the original formula as new regulations do not allow products sold at retail and containing hydrogen peroxide to come close to lashes, even if the level of peroxide is very, very low.

The Colorsport 30 Day Mascara with the hydrogen peroxide-free solution will still be available for lashes and eyebrows at Boots, on Amazon, Beauty and the Bunch and other retailers.

With that in mind, we’ve brought back the original formula just for eyebrows as the 30 Day Brow Tint – so natural looking eyebrows are just minutes away with our salon-away-from home kit!

Apply in 1-2 minutes and the results will last for 30 days. With up to 16 applications per kit, this waterproof formula creates healthier-looking and elegantly defined brows. This kit is ideal for very stubborn hairs that are difficult to tint, for minimal effort and maximum impact.

The Colorsport 30 Day Brow Tint will be available from Monday 25th January 2016. To purchase the new 30 Day Brow Tint visit Beauty and the Bunch or subscribe to our newsletter at the bottom of our homepage to be the first to know where to buy the kit or comment below with your email address.

  • Makeup Trends To Try This Autumn

Every February, the fashion world dictates the next beauty trends you’ll need this Autumn and Winter. We’ve found our favourite makeup trends from the classic red matte lip to a serious smoky eye, so there’s only one question unanswered, which makeup trend will you pick?

    – Statement lips are here to stay. We love a deep berry or stunning red lip, just make sure you use a lip liner and setting powder so it doesn’t bleed!

    – Eyeliner gets playful. All sorts of eyeliner styles were seen on the catwalk this year, but the one that stuck out is the graphic style. Use your trusty black liquid eyeliner to draw thick cat flicks. Our favourite is the Rapid Lash-Gro Eyeliner!

    – Go bare faced! It’s all about the natural and glowing skin this season (you saw the strobing trend last month!) try using a light foundation and highlighter.

    – Frame your eyebrows. Sculpted, shaped and statement brows was a sure makeup trend across the shows! Try using an eyebrow pen like the Brow Definer for easy but classic eyebrows.

    – Rock ‘n’ Roll eyes! Amp up your smoky eyes by using a jet black eyeshadow powder to line the lower lash line for added depth. We love the Smokey Eyes & Perfect Brows Kit.

What trends will you be trying this Autumn/Winter 2015?

  • What Do Your Eyebrows Say About You?

By Walterlan Papetti (Own work) [CC BY-SA 4.0], via Wikimedia Commons

They are your defining feature and without them, we’d look a little lost! As the saying goes, ‘eyebrows are sisters, not twins’ so each one is unique like your fingerprint – but what do your eyebrows say about you…?

Naturally thick eyebrows. You’ve been graced with the Cara Delevingne of all the eyebrows – lucky you! As well as this, thicker eyebrows signify someone who loves to be active and is naturally confident.

High arches. You’re as much of a perfectionist as your high arches are, but you’re also a little sensitive at heart and hold back a bit.

Low arches. The most easy going of the brows, you’re personality reflects that too and you’re also much more approachable!

Over plucked and thin eyebrows. Studies have shown that someone who over plucks their eyebrows could have a lower self confidence and decision-making abilities. Time to get fuller brows ladies!

Curved eyebrows. If yours round at the top, this usually means the person is kind and thinks about others’ needs!

  • 10 Tips and Tricks for Easy Eyebrows

10 Tips and Tricks for Easy Eyebrows

Essential but tricky to master, your eyebrows are the most important feature on your face.

They come in all shapes and sizes, some bushy and some a little thin on the ground but all require maintenance to keep in good condition. Gorgeously defined eyebrows can make a look strong and powerful, without being too intimidating or scary (trust us, we’ve been there.)

So how can you easily achieve amazing eyebrows that wow? We’re here to share our expert tips and tricks from grooming to at home dye kits for those Cara Delevingne-esque eyebrows we all want.

    • Use a spooley brush

If you’re unfamiliar with this underrated invention, then listen up. Just like a mascara wand, a spooley brush helps pick up even the tiniest hairs and lifts them into shape before applying any product. It also brushes out any powder or makeup that may have fallen into them. Genius.

    • Don’t stain your skin

Exclusively for people using at home dye kits like the 30 Day Mascara, use a small amount of thick cream or petroleum jelly around the edges of your eyebrows to avoid staining your skin with the eyebrow dye!

    • Try a stencil

If you’re having trouble finding your eyebrow shape, a stencil can become handy to guide you in the right direction. Pick a plastic stencil that’s similar to your shape and pluck away any stray hairs that don’t fit the shape with a tweezer!

    • Fill in with the correct products

Pencil is best of a quick and easy shape, powder is ideal for achieving a natural shape and gel is perfect for setting stray hairs and eyebrow makeup.

    • Follow the light!

Always use good and ideally, natural lightning to shape and fill in your eyebrows as it helps to create a shape to suit your face.

    • Highlight your brows

Possibly the easiest trick in the book, use a cream or powder champagne or pearl highlighter just underneath your eyebrows and along the brow bone to accentuate the eyebrow shape.

    • Sisters not twins!

We’ve all heard the saying “Eyebrows are meant to be sisters, not twins.” So if they’re not even or the same, don’t sweat it!

    • Find your perfect shape

Easier said than done, your face shape determines your eyebrows too! Follow our guide for how to find your eyebrow shape here.

    • Go easy on the tweezing

The over-tweezed-pencil-eyebrow look is never a good one, so drop the tweezers if you find yourself reaching for them too often!

    • Choose the right shade

Similar to finding the perfect hair dye or foundation, choosing your eyebrow shade is a task in itself. The general rule is if your hair is light, go one shade darker on your eyebrows and if you have naturally dark hair, try one shade lighter. Choose ashy and brown shades, rather than red undertones which can look slightly odd against the skin!

We hope this helps you in your quest for better eyebrows! Try the 30 Day Mascara for a natural eyebrow colour tint that lasts up to 30 days. Our favourite powder compact is the Smokey Eyes & Perfect Brows Kit and for a quick eyebrow fix, we love the Brow Definer.

Share your best tips for easy eyebrow maintenance below.

  • What eyebrow shape are you?

Can’t find your perfect eyebrow shape? Here at Colorsport, we’re dedicated to bringing you your best eyebrows yet.

    Tools you’ll need:
    – Tweezers
    – A small hand held mirror
    – A spooley brush or old mascara wand that’s been cleaned

You’ll need to position yourself in good light, because plucking your eyebrows to shape in the dark will not end up well! We find near the window, but not in direct sunlight, is a good place for natural lighting.

As the saying goes, eyebrows are sisters not twins, so don’t expect to get matching eyebrows first time you shape them but we aim to create natural brows that suit your face.

First task is finding your face shape. Try holding a mirror directly in front of you to see which fits best.

Generally considered the ideal face shape, a soft angled eyebrow shape will compliment your look. Ensure arches aren’t too sharp otherwise your face shape could look too harsh.

Try aiming for a flat eyebrow shape, as the horizontal line breaks up a longer face making it look shorter. This shape is also great for anti-ageing because of the softer style.

High arches are best for round shapes, as this will make the face look longer and less rounded. Avoid low arches or curving eyebrow shapes as this creates added curves to your face.

This face shape is all about the curving! Follow a curved eyebrow style, then balance with a slight angle. This will help to balance out a strong jawline.

A rounded head with a smaller chin, try shaping with a low arch and curve to add more length to your forehead and counteract a pointy chin.

Soft and curved eyebrows suit diamond faces the best. Aim for a curved eyebrow shape, avoiding a high arch to reduce the widest part of your face, commonly the temples.

  • Update Your Spring Make-Up

    Spring Update Your Make Up

When was the last time you updated your make-up bag?

We’re all guilty of neglecting our make-up throughout the year, when it’s important to replace old products with new. Most mascaras only last for 3-6 months and liquid eyeliners should be thrown out after three months, whereas liquid foundation should land in the bin six months later. It’s especially important to have a good clear out of your make-up to avoid spreading bacteria and infection.

Good Housekeeping have a brilliant breakdown of what make-up lasts and which can’t take you from year to year, read it here.

So now you’ll have a nice clear make-up bag ready for the spring and summer. It’s time to get shopping!

    • BB Creams are a perfect light base. Or tinted moisturisers with add SPF can work two products in one. Providing moisturise, SPF protection and a sheer coverage, a BB Cream or tinted moisturiser is a must-have for your Spring make-up bag.
    • Coral blushers make a pretty flush. Try a cream formula for long-lasting results in the warmer weather, plus you can double them up as a lip stain! Coral shades match a sunkissed glow beautifully and create a natural flush.
    • Pastel nails make for a gorgeous statement. Ice baby blue is the shade this Spring/Summer 15, so pair your nails with a matching leather jacket or top. Remember to always apply a bottom and top coat to avoid chipping and staining.
    • Blue eyeliner flicks are all the range. Across the catwalks for Spring/Summer 15 make-up artists dabbled in a new blue. Try an ombre look, starting with the lighter shade in the inner corners, then winging out into a navy. If you’re not feeling brave, a deep navy works just as well.
    • Lips are going lighter. Steer clear of the dark plum and berry tones for a refreshed pink grapefruit or peach shade. And if you’re not a lipstick lover, there’s lip crayons and tinted lip balms for a swipe-and-go look.

If you’re looking for a new eyeliner, the Rapid Lash-Gro Eyeliner is smudge and waterproof, or if you want to create statement brows to match, we adore the Smokey Eyes & Perfect Brows Kit for creating natural-looking and groomed eyebrows.
